What is Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy?
Spiritually integrated psychotherapy is an approach to personal and relational healing that incorporates the mind, body and spirit. The goal of this type of therapy is to address the cognitive, emotional and spiritual roots of human suffering and help persons draw on spiritual resources in times of stress in their lives and their relationships. Spirituality is a universal human need. By encompassing the domain of the sacred in assessment, dialogue and treatment, this mode of psychotherapy seeks to support persons in a more holistic way that honours all dimensions
of their being.
How Does it Work?
Spiritually integrated psychotherapy is a relational form of therapy that utilizes the relationship between you and your therapist to help you achieve your goals for a more satisfying and fulfilled life, whatever they may be. It uses a process of attending, discerning and responding to your thoughts and feelings in order to help you achieve deeper clarity about your goals and confidence in achieving them.
The therapeutic process involves exploration of the conscious and unconscious sources of your difficult emotions, thoughts and unwanted behaviors. Your therapist is trained to help you to answer the questions and concerns that brought you into therapy and empower you
to direct the flow of your life in new and more fulfilling ways. This listening and discovery process is highly individual and will rely on your own innate potential for healing and growth.
